Welcome to the King Research Club

We take great pride in making our games the very best that they can be and speaking to our beloved players is an integral part of that.

Your opinions, your feedback, and your unique perspectives on our games are invaluable. That’s why we’ve set up the King Research Club, to encourage you to join us, share your thoughts and earn some pretty cool rewards too.

FAQ

1. Creating an account
  • Age: You must be at least 18 years old to join the King Research Club and participate in research sessions.
  • Location: Anywhere! The majority of our research sessions are run remotely so you can join from the comfort of your own home. We also offer face-to-face research sessions onsite at many of our King office locations. Use the Update Profile section to let us know if you live near one of our offices so we can be sure to invite you to any of these sessions.
  • Language: Research sessions are mostly run in English but we often have opportunities for German, Spanish or Swedish speakers.
  • Experience: If you’re wondering whether you’re the right person for this, let us reassure you that you are! We love speaking to all of our players, whether you’re on the last level of Candy Crush Saga or just started your adventure with our games.
2. What should I expect as part of the King Research Club?

If you’re selected to participate in a research session there are many ways that we might ask you to participate:

  • Interviews: Chat with a member of our research team about your experiences with our games. These interviews are mostly run remotely so you can join from wherever you might be..
  • Survey: Complete an online survey, answering questions based on your general experience or opinion interacting with the game.
  • Playtest: Play one of our games and provide feedback by answering questions. A playtest can be done in our Research Lab or remotely at home using one of our dedicated tools e.g. Playtest Cloud.
  • Usability Study: Perform a set of tasks in the game. Usability studies can be done both remotely or in one of our Research Labs.

Session lengths can range from 5 minutes to multiple days. Don’t worry, we’ll clearly explain what to expect for each research study before you agree to participate.

3. What does a research session involve?

A research session will vary according to the particular type of research being conducted. From answering a few survey questions about things you like or don’t like in the game, to deciding which art design you'd prefer, to joining a deeper discussion about an upcoming feature, we offer a wide variety of ways for you to give us your honest and open feedback.

Every session will be clearly explained before you agree to participate and should you have any questions, simply reach out to us at contact@research.king.com.

4. I've been contacted about a research session, now what?

If you receive an email inviting you to join a research session, simply log into the Research Club portal, click on the "Available Surveys" section and follow the specific instructions.

If the research session involves an interview, either via Zoom or face-to-face, you will be able to select a time and date that works for you. After confirming your choice, you’ll receive an email with the summary details together with any relevant instructions, e.g. how to access the virtual call or find the King office etc.

If the sessions are full or you can’t find a suitable time, don’t worry, you’ll have plenty more opportunities in the future.

If anything is unclear, or you have further questions, reach out to us at contact@research.king.com.

6. What do I get for joining a research session or completing a survey?

We offer our thanks and gratitude to everyone who participates in the King Research Club, but we know you can’t buy Candy Crush Gold Bars with that. That’s why we also offer rewards to eligible participants in a few different ways; Club points, in-game currency and boosters or even gift cards. The rewards for each research study will always be clearly explained before you agree to participate.
